MARTHA A. JOHNSON

Martha A. Johnson, a longtime San Rafael resident, died Wednesday at her home after a long illness. She was 56.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Kiowa, Colo., and moved to San Rafael in 1960.

She was a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mrs. Johnson taught elementary school for eight years in Colorado and two years in California before leaving to rear a family.

She was an active member of the Marin Lutheran Church in Corte Madera and also had been active with the Parent-Teacher Association on the school, county and district levels.

She is survived by her husband, Allen H. Johnson of San Rafael; a son, Phillip A. Johnson of Frazier, Pa.; and a daughter, Sherri L. Johnson of San Luis Obispo.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at t he Marin Lutheran Church in Corte Madera. Friends may call after 7 tonight at Daphne Funerals Marin in Corte Madera.

Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, San Rafael or the Marin Lutheran Church memorial fund.
