HAROLD F. MARPLE Sr.
A funeral for Harold F. Marple Sr. of Petaluma, a former San Rafael resident, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
Mr. Marple died Thursday at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital in Petaluma. He was 88.
He was born in McMechen, W. Va., and moved to San Rafael in 1947. He had been a house painter for many years.
Mr. Marple was an active member of the Fairfax Masonic Lodge and the Painters Union of San Rafael. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He moved to Petaluma eight years ago. His wife, Mable Marple, died in 1981. They had been married for 64 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Petersen of Santa Rosa and Elenor Admire of Petaluma; two sons, Harold F. Marple Jr. of Pollock Pines and Dale A. Marple of West Virginia; two sisters, Bertha Marple and Audrey Marple, both of West Virginia; and a brother, William Marple of West Virginia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the mortuary until 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
