MINNA H. SEELEY
A funeral for Minna H. Seeley of San Rafael, who was nominated for Marin senior citizen of 1978, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in San Rafael.
Mrs. Seeley, who was 97, died Sunday at Bayside Convalescent Hospital in Kentfield.
Mrs. Seeley was born in Iowa. She and her husband, the late Col. B. A. Seeley, came to Marin in 1948 when he retired from the Army.
Mrs. Seeley led an active life in her older years despite her age.
Up until she became ill four months ago, she drove her car, going to her bridge club and participating in several organizations.
When the Marinwood Park and Recreation Commission nominated her for citizen of the year in 1978, the organization said “Minna Seeley is the perfect example that age does not have to be measured by numbers. She is 90 years young and just returned with the Marinwood Funsters 11th tour to the Hawaiian Islands. She climbed up mountains there and swam in the warm Pacific Ocean.”
She was a member of the original Larkspur-Corte Madera Funsters, the Terra Linda Funsters and the Marinwood Funsters, the Goldenaires, the Retired Officers Wives’ Club and the First Presbyterian Church in San Rafael. She also was a member of several mineral and gem groups, including the Marin Mineral Society and the San Francisco Mineral Society.
She enjoyed ceramics and painting.
She is survived by a daughter, Nana S. Gilmer of San Rafael; a son, retired Col. A. H. Seeley of San Rafael; a sister, Linda H. Potter of Storm Lake, Iowa; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Entombment will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
