DONALD J. McLAREN
A funeral for Donald Joseph McLaren of Mill Valley will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Sebastopol.
Mr. McLaren died Sunday at his home after a brief illness. He was 78.
He had lived 18 years in Mill Valley. Mr. McLaren was born in Duncans Mills near the Sonoma Coast and lived in Sonoma County until 1934 when he started working for he Standard Oil Co.
Mr. McLaren moved to San Francisco in 1936 where he was a service station manager. He also managed a station in Ukiah for a short time. He retired in 1969.
His wife, Dorothy Gonnella McLaren, died in 1966.
Mr. McLaren was an avid hunter and fisherman, often visiting his ranch in Duncan Mills.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Holmes of Mill Valley.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Occidental Druids Cemetery in Occidental.
