BARBARA E. GIROT
The funeral for Barbara E. Girot of Greenbrae, a fourth generation Californian, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
Mrs. Girot died Tuesday in her home after a long illness.
She was a native of San Francisco. Mrs. Girot was a descendant of immigrants who crossed the continent in covered wagons to California during the gold rush. Her family helped settle the historic mining town of Bodie, Mono County.
Mrs. Girot was a graduate of Lowell High School in San Francisco. She attended the University of California at Berkeley, studying nutrition science.
During World War II, she served as a Red Cross volunteer. She was an active member of the Tam Organ Club of San Rafael.
Survivors age her husband, George F. Girot of Greenbrae; a daughter, Suzanne Bither of Moss Beach; a son, George Girot Jr. of Boulder Creek; her mother, Vera R. Annis of Mill Valley; and four granddaughters.
The family prefers contributions to the American Cancer Society.
