HALVOR F. BERG
A memorial Mass for Halvor F. Berg of Greenbrae will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Kentfield.
Mr. Berg died Thursday at his home after a long illness. He was 66.
Mr. Berg, a native of Idaho, had lived in Marin for 27 years. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in 1944. For 35 years, he was a marine and stationary engineer. In 1960, he was chief engineer aboard the wine tanker, Angelo Petri, when the vessel was caught in a storm outside the Golden gate.
Before retiring in 1981, Mr. Berg worked as chief engineer for the Holiday Inn in San Francisco’s Financial District.
Survivors are his wife, Barbara Berg; a daughter, Margaret Berg Masters of Chicago; and four sisters, Naomi Christensen of Springfield, Idaho, Olga Brown of Ogden, Utah, Carma Skidmore of Redmond, Wash., and Marie Thurston of Pingree, Idaho.
