Harry Vernon Kingsley, a native of San Rafael, died Monday, May 22, 1989, at Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco. He was 83.

He attended school in Oakland. During World War II, her served in the Navy as a chief pipefitter. He was among the troops that landed at Normandy.

After the war, he worked for the U.S. Post Office in Redwood City. He retired 25 years later.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He resided for several years at The Redwoods in Mill Valley and a year ago moved to Rafael Convalescent Hospital.

Mr. Kingsley is survived by three stepdaughters, Helen Newton of Redwood City, Judith Markert of Yucca Valley and Jeannette Webster of Tiburon; and 11 grandchildren.

At his request, no service will be held. Burial will be private.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Pacific Vision Foundation, Presbyterian Medical Center, San Francisco.
