Dr. WILLIAM CARY
Dr. William Cary, 86, a retired gynecologist and obstetrician who lived in Mill Valley, died Tuesday at Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda.
He was a native of North Dakota and had lived in Mill Valley since 1961.
Dr. Cary graduated from Stanford University Medical School. He had a private practice in San Francisco for many years, and had taught at Stanford University Medical School. He also was on the staff at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland.
He retired at the age of 70.
Dr. Cary had serve d as a commander in t he Navy during World War II.
Dr. Cary’s wife, Florence Whittier Cary, died earlier.
He is survived by a daughter, Alison Corson of Hayward; five sons, William Sayre Cary III of Kent Woodlands, Stephen Clark Cary of Santa Rosa, John Whittier Cary of Boston, Mass., Anthony Northrup Cary of Berkeley and Reed Whittier Cary of Santa Rosa; a sister, Ethelind Litle of Arizona; a brother, Colin Cary of North Dakota; and 18 grandchildren.
No services will be held.
