REV. A. R. KURTZ
Albert Rudolph Kurtz, 67, a retired Lutheran minister from Los Altos, was pronounced dead on arrival at Marin General Hospital last night after he became ill at a restaurant in Strawberry while dining with his son, Albert J. Kurtz of Inverness.
Assist. Coroner William C. Bradley said an autopsy is scheduled to determine exact cause of death.
Kurtz collapsed choking as he was eating prawns at the restaurant. Two doctors who were present tried in vain to revive him. Alto firemen were called to give him resuscitation.
Kurtz had a history of high blood pressure and had also been subject to earlier choking spells, said Bradley.
Born in South Dakota, he had been a minister for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife, Abina Kurtz, his son, a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Hillmer of Sunnyvale; a sister, Mrs. Mary Brown of Sacramento; and a brother, Herman Kurtz of Lodi.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Russell & Gooch Mortuary , Mill Valley.
