LOUIS B. MERRIMAN
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillhaven Convalescent Hospital in Mill Valley for Louis B. Merriman, a retired seaman who lived for a time aboard a boat in local harbors.
Mr. Merriman, who was 79, died Friday at Hillhaven, where he had lived for the past seven years.
He was born in Bentonville, Ark., and worked in the oil fields before coming to California while a deckhand on a freighter that sailed the Pacific.
During World War II, he served as a carpenter’s mate in the Navy.
He lived in Petaluma for some years and then built a boat, on which he lived in Tomales and later Sausalito.
He is survived by three brothers, William, Rex and Brady Merriman, and three sisters, Ruth Higgins, Martha Lee Lewin and Lucille Myers.
Burial will be in San Francisco National Cemetery.
The family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
