Killed While Testing Engine Pipes
Fatally injured in an explosion in the steam pipes of an engine which he was testing Sunday in the Sausalito yards of the Northwestern Pacific, J. H. Bucknum of Mill Valley died later the same day in St. Luke’s Hospital, San Francisco, where he was hurried for treatment.
It is reported that Buckman (sic) was struck on the head by a flying valve which fractured his skull. He was hurled to the ground and was unconscious when picked up by fellow workmen.
The deceased was a member of Alcatraz Lodge No. 241, F. and A. M., of Oakland. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 2:15 o’clock at the Masonic Hall by Marin Lodge No. 191, and burial will be made in Mt. Tamalpais cemetery.
