A. THOMPSON MONTGOMERY
A memorial service for A. Thompson Montgomery of Tiburon, a professor and textbook author, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere.
Mr. Montgomery died Saturday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 57.
He had been a professor of accounting in the school of business a San Francisco State University since 1968.
Mr. Montgomery was a native of Milwaukee, Wisc., and earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Haverford College in Pennsylvania in 1949. He received his advanced degrees at Stanford University, earning his master’s in business administration in 1960 and doctorate in accounting in 1970.
He was the author of two textbooks used widely in business schools, “Financial Accounting Information” and “Managerial Accounting Information.” The texts have been in use at San Francisco State since the mid-1970s.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie Sorbo Montgomery of Tiburon; a daughter, Linda Montgomery of Bethesda, Md.,; and two sons, Scott Montgomery of San Francisco and Michael Montgomery of West Palm Beach, Fla.
