LOUISE B. STEPHEN
A memorial service for Louise B. Stephen, a former San Rafael resident, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael.
Mrs. Stephen died Sept. 18 in Porterville, Tulare County, where she had been hospitalized since June. She was 96.
Mrs. Stephen had resided in Porterville from 1921 to 1945, when she moved to San Rafael, where she lived until June.
A private family service was held Sept. 22 in Porterville. Burial was in the Vandalia Cemetery in Porterville.
Mrs. Stephen was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and of the San Rafael chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as guardian secretary of Job’s Daughters, Bethel No. 48 in San Rafael, for 35 years.
She is survived by three sons, Louis Stephen of Porterville, Richard Stephen of Terra Bella, Tulare County, and William Stephen of Denio, Nev.; two daughters, Alice Thompson of San Rafael and Charlotte Stephen of Burlingame; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her family asked that memorial gifts go to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund of St. Paul’s Church or a favorite charity.
