BERNARD DIGNAM
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Old St. Hilary’s Church in Tiburon for Bernard Dignam of Belvedere, designer and builder of medical instruments.
Mr. Dignam, who was 55, died Saturday at his home.
He was a native of Cardiff, Wales, and served with the British Merchant Marine before coming to this county.
During the 1960s, he was an associate on the staff at Stanford University’s linear accelerator. Later, in the 1970s, he joined the University of California Medical Center research and development team at the San Francisco facility.
In 1980 he founded precision Medical Instruments Inc., where he designed and built instruments used by eye surgeons throughout the world.
Mr. Dignam is survived by his wife, Bonnie. She asks that memorial donations be made to cancer research agencies in lieu of flowers.
Due to limited parking spaces at the church, a shuttle service will run from the parking lot at Mar West in Tiburon beginning at 1 p.m.
