Dr. A. HALNAN WHITE

A memorial gathering will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael for Dr. A. Halnan White, a psychiatrist and longtime Marin resident.

Dr. White died Sunday at his home in Kent Woodlands. He was 59.

He had served as president of the Marin Medical Society in 1974-75 and was a leading spokesman in the county on the medical malpractice insurance crisis at that time.

Dr. White was born in Canada and studied at McGill University in Montreal, where he earned his medical degree in 1957. He did his internship in West Virginia and residencies in Connecticut and Michigan.

He had practiced psychiatry in Marin since the early 1960s, retiring in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Corinne, a locally prominent singer, and two brothers, Donald and Douglas White.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Marin Wildlife Center.
