WALTER D. STEWART
A memorial service for Walter D. Stewart of San Rafael, a retired radio and television engineer, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael.
Mr. Stewart died Saturday at home. He was 67.
He was a native of Seattle, Wash., and lived in Marin for 20 years.
He started working as engineer in television when it still was in its infancy. Most of his career was with the San Francisco television station, KPIX, where he worked for more than 30 years.
He was also a founding partner of KIQS, a radio station in Willows.
Mr. Stewart served in the Coast Guard during World War II.
He was a member of the Marin Power Squadron, Loch Lomond Yacht Club, Sons in Retirement and Society of Amateur Radio Operators.
His survivors include his wife, Genevieve Stewart of San Rafael and a sister, Elizabeth Kumpf of Seattle.
The family prefers memorial donations to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the Marin Power Squadron or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Burial will be private.
