Rev. EMMETT O. MONOHAN
Solemn Mass of Requiem for Rev. Emmett O. Monohan, 60, of San Francisco, pastor of Holy Cross parish since 1957, will be sung at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Holy Cross Church in San Francisco.
Father Monohan died Monday in Olema while visiting a seminary classmate, Rev. Richard Barron, pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Point Reyes Station. Father Monohan had been in failing health for several months.
A native of Oakland, he was educated at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park and ordained in 1930 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in San Francisco.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Bridget Monohan of Oakland; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brosnan of Oakland, and Mrs. Bernice Ham of Castro Valley; and four brothers, Leo and Neil Monohan of Oakland, John Monohan of Union City, and Eugene Monohan of El Sobrante.
The body will lie in state at the church until the Mass. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Duggan’s Funeral Chapel, San Francisco. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
