GENE KERR

Private funeral for Mrs. Gene P. Kerr, 66, of Bolinas, will be held tomorrow morning in the Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.

Mrs. Kerr, a newspaperwoman who worked the last eight years of her career on the San Jose Mercury, died Saturday in a local hospital after a short illness.

A native of Wisconsin, Mrs. Kerr had lived in Marin County 11 years and in California 40 years. She held degrees in psychology and journalism from University of Wisconsin and did graduate work at Sorbonne University in Paris. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Mrs. Kerr worked on the San Jose Mercury from 1947 through 1954, when s he retired. Before that she worked for papers in Michigan, Wisconsin and Long Beach. She also did free-lance magazine writing.

Surviving are her husband, James E. Kerr of Bolinas; her daughter, Mrs. Gene Travis Goodenough of Sacramento, and her sister, Mrs. L. A. Plumb of Long Beach and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma.
