Salvatore Torrano, Kin of Well Known Townsman, Passes
Felix Torrano, local merchant, and his brother, Antone Torrano, returned to their home here Wednesday evening following the funeral of their father, Salvatore Torrano, who passed away last Saturday, at the home of a daughter. Mrs. Rose Conti, in San Francisco.
The senior Torrano was 84 years of age and a veteran of two of the wars in his native country – Italy.
He was decorated for bravery by the Italian government in the war of 1869-1870, in the campaigns around Rome. He came to this country 13 years ago, his burial taking place on the same day of his arrival in the United States in 1921.
Since arriving in this country he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Conti. Besides those mentioned, another son, Lewis Torrano, resides in San Francisco, and also a sister, Mrs. Mary Presto. Francesco Torrano, the third daughter, resides in Italy. The deceased’s birth place was Verbicaro, Italy.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m., from the chapel of Valenti, Marini, Perata, thence to St. Peter’s and Paul’s Church, where a requiem High Mass was said for the repose of his soul. Interment was at the Italian cemetery, San Francisco.
