Allan Moses, Service Station Operator, Takes Life by Gas

Allan Moses, 45 year old service station operator of San Geronimo, was found dead in his car, last Friday afternoon by Jas. Gordon, Forest Knolls youth, who drove up to the station on the Sir Francis Drake and Nicasio road.

Deputy Coroner Harry Williams said Moses had been dead about an hour when discovered at 3:30 in the afternoon. It was a case of suicide.

Moses had sealed a piece of hose to the exhaust of his car in the garage. He inserted it through the rear window of the car, sealed all openings and turned on the engine.

Moses planned and carried out the deed while his wife, Velma, was visiting in San Francisco. He left no notes. The officers learned t hat he was last seen about the station in the morning.

Moses’ services station was known as “The Bullrushes.”

Graveside services were held Tuesday at 2:30 at the National Cemetery, Presidio, San Francisco. Moses was a World War veteran.
