Dr. JOHN HENRY FLINT Jr.

A memorial service for Dr. John Henry Flint Jr. of Belvedere, a dentist, 40-year Marin resident and former Belvedere city councilman, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere.

Dr. Flint, who was 75, died Monday at his Belvedere home after a long bout with cancer.

Dr. Flint was a native of San Francisco and a graduate of Lowell High School. He later was graduated form the College of Physicians and Surgeons Dental School (now called University of the Pacific) in Stockton.

Dr. Flint began practicing dentistry in San Francisco in 1935.

Until last year, he continued his practice except during World War II, when he was a lieutenant commander on the cruiser Philadelphia.

Dr. Flint had served on the Belvedere City Council in the early 1960s, the local fire commission, and the board of directors of the Lagoon Property Owners Association.

He was former president of the San Francisco Dental Society and the Alumni Association of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He also was a former director of the California Service Corporation. He was a fellow of the American College of Dentists and a director of the California Dentists Guild.

He was a longtime member of the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Dr. Flint is survived by his wife, Dorothy Flint of Belvedere; three daughters, Sally Martin of Dolan Springs, Ariz., Nancy Brayton of Chico and Susy Dermody of Stockton; and six grandchildren.

The Neptune Society is handling arrangements.

The family prefers memorial gifts to the Hospice of Marin, the Landmarks Society of Tiburon-Belvedere, or the School of Dentistry of the University of the Pacific.
