GERARD JOHN BRADY

Gerard John Brady of Ignacio, a longtime Marin businessman, died Saturday at Marin General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 78.

Mr. Brady first worked in insurance and banking. He later owned and operated a wholesale florist business and also had a retail florist business for many years.

He had owned and operated the Inverness Motel. After operating that business for 21 years, Mr. Brady retired in 1984 due to ill health.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart parish in Olema. He was born and reared in Alameda.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Livia A. Rossi Brady of Ignacio; a son, the Rev. Gerard J. Brady of Petaluma; three sisters, Alice Dowling of Rossmor, Caroline King of Walnut Creek and Lucille Schreiber of Alameda; and two brothers, James Brady and Edmund Brady, both of Alameda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.
