Death Takes Father of E. W. Smith
City Clerk Eugene Smith was called to San Francisco last Monday on the sad mission of attending his father in his last illness.
Eugene W. Smith, Sr., the deceased, was a resident of Marin county for fifteen years. He was born in the town of Sonoma in 1850. He was well known in San Rafael and few men were more highly respected. He had been suffering from illness for some years.
Besides a widow, Mrs. Emma A. Smith, and his son, Eugene, he is survived by these children: Oren, Harry, Leslie and Miss Eva Smith, and Mrs. Flora Monnier.
The funeral was held yesterday in San Francisco and burial was made in Cypress Lawn cemetery.
