JOHN G. KNAPP
Private services were held today for John G. Knapp, a longtime Marin resident.
Mr. Knapp, who was 63, died Sunday at Bayside Convalescent Hospital in Kentfield after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in San Francisco and had lived most of his life at the family home in Ross and other parts of Marin. For a time, he lived in Bokton, when he worked as a merchant marine.
Mr. Knapp is a graduate of Tamalpais High School. He attended College of Marin before becoming a merchant marine.
During World War II, he served in the Navy.
He also had worked as a tile setter for Bridges Tile Co. in San Anselmo.
Survivors are his mother, Ethel Knapp; a sister, Elizabeth Knapp; and two brothers, Thomas and William Knapp, all of Ross.
A private burial will be at Golden Gate Cemetery in San Bruno.
