ARTHUR L. SCHWERDT
A memorial service for Arthur L. Schwerdt of Larkspur will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Fairfax Masonic Temple in Larkspur.
Mr. Schwerdt, 79, died Sunday at Marin General Hospital after a long illness.
He was a native of San Francisco and a longtime resident of Marin.
Mr. Schwerdt was a retired sergeant of the San Francisco Police Department.
He was past master of Parnassus Presidio Masonic Lodge and a member of the Fairfax Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Islam Temple of the Shrine, the Band and California Bodies Scottish Rite.
Mr. Schwerdt was a former member of the Las Gallinas Sanitary District Non-marching Band. He also was a member of the Widows and Orphans Aid Association and the Sons in Retirement, branch 122.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Schwerdt of Larkspur; three sons, James of Larkspur, Robert of Larkspur and Larry of Sacramento; a brother, Edward Schwerdt of San Francisco; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His family prefers memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
