Popular Guard Dies At Prison

Edward E. Shuffleton, who has been employed as a guard at San Quentin for a number of years, passed away there yesterday at the age of 55 years. He was operated on shortly before death. He leaves a widow and six children Funeral services were held last night at Sawyer’s Parlors, and the remains will be shipped today to Redding, former home of the deceased.

Shuffleton was one of the most popular of the San Quentin employees. The services last night, Rev. Lynn T. White officiating, were attended by about fifty of his fellow employees. A beautiful floral piece was furnished by them, and an escort of six of the closest friends of the deceased accompanied the remains as far as San Francisco.
