MICHAEL M. MERRILL
Michael M. Merrill of Sausalito, a financier and restaurateur, died Tuesday in San Francisco after a lengthy illness. He was 51.
Mr. Merrill was vice president and regional manager of a San Francisco investment firm, Drexel, Burnham and Lambert.
A year ago he became a partner in the Union Pacific restaurant on Ellis Street in San Francisco.
Mr. Merrill was born in San Francisco and a graduate of San Francisco State University. He was a member of the Bohemian Club, the Pacific Union Club and served as a director of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
He had previously lived in Ross and moved to Sausalito in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Merrill of Sausalito; two daughters, Melissa Merrill of Mill Valley and Sophie Hodge of Larkspur; a son, Michael M. “Greg” Merrill Jr. of Sausalito; and two sisters, Anne M. Westdahl of Santa Barbara and Jane M. Merrill of London.
Arrangements are being handled by the Neptune Society in San Rafael. The family prefers that memorial donations be made to the Pacific Presbyterian Medical Foundation, P.O. Box7999, San Francisco, 94120.
