CHARLES E. MILLER JR.
A private graveside service for Charles E. Miller Jr. of Mill Valley, a longtime university professor, will be held Friday at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley.
Mr. Miller died Tuesday at his home after a brief illness. He was 58.
He was a professor emeritus of educational research at San Francisco State University.
Mr. Miller was born in Emmett, Idaho, and was reared in New Meadows, Idaho. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity.
He earned his master’s degree and doctorate in education at Washington State University and the University of California at Berkeley.
The early part of his career was spent in Idaho as a teacher and superintendent of schools. He had also taught in the Piedmont School District before joining the university faculty.
Mr. Miller taught for 25 years at San Francisco State and was the co-author of a textbook on educational research.
He lived in Mill Valley for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Miller of Mill Valley; a daughter, Kay Rusche of Lewiston, Idaho; his mother, Rae B. Miller of New Meadows, Idaho; and a granddaughter.
The family prefers that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society.
