EDWARD J. SVENDSEN
A funeral for Edward J. Svendsen, a former Mill Valley resident, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette.
Mr. Svendsen, 65, died Tuesday at Mount Diablo Medical Center in Concord after a long illness.
He was born in Oakland and reared in Napa. He moved to Mill Valley in 1950.
His family moved to Alamo, Contra Costa County, some years ago. They also vacationed at their Tahoe home for many years.
Mr. Svendsen was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and tennis.
He had served with the Army paratroopers during World War II.
After the war, he was an industrial equipment salesman. He retired about six months ago.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Svendsen of Alamo; a son, Edward Svendsen of Tahoe City; a daughter, Suzy Lyons of Modesto; a brother, John Svendsen of Napa; and three grandchildren.
Burial will be at Oakmont Memorial Park.
