Pt. Reyes Girl, 12, Dies Of Polio
Lorraine F. Alberigi, 12-year-old Point Reyes Station girl, became the second Marin resident this year to died from polio.
She became ill Wednesday and was taken to Marin General Hospital Thursday evening and died at 1:45 o’clock this morning. Attendants at the hospital said the type of polio had not been determined this morning.
Although there have already been two death from polio in Marin county this year, the first was a boy from Auburn who was brought here for treatment early in January. Joseph C. Cleary, 24-year-old San Rafael man died of polio on January 28.
Lorraine was a student at the Black school in Point Reyes Station and had just completed the seventh grade. She was also a member of the 4-H club there.
The Alberigi family is a pioneer group in Point Reyes Station where several generations of the family have lived. An uncle of Lorraine’s, Manuel Alberigi, is constable there.
She is survived by her father, James R. Alberigi, Standard Oil company distributor in Point Reyes Station, her mother, Mrs. Margaret F. Alberigi, brothers and sisters, Beverly, James, Maria and Michael Alberigi.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Keaton’s mortuary in San Rafael. A Requiem Mass will be offered at the Sacred Heart church in Point Reyes at 10 a.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the mortuary. Burial will be in Olema cemetery.
