Woman Found Dead After Fall At Home
Mrs. Mildren Pauline Garol, 53, of 27 Locksley Lane, San Rafael, was found dead in her living room yesterday with a deep gash in her forehead as t he result of a fall in her bathroom.
Her body was found at 9:55 a.m. by her son, Hugh, 19, a student at the University of California at Berkeley.
Coroner Frank J. Keaton said Mrs. Garol died of natural causes and San Rafael police ruled it an accidental death.
Mrs. Garol had been ill for several y ears and upset since the death of her husband, Dr. Hugh W. Garol, who suffered a heart attack and died in 1958 at the age of 47, Keaton said.
She apparently became ill during the night and went to the bathroom, where she fell striking her head against the sink, Keaton said. Then she walked to the living room where she collapsed.
Police estimated that Mrs. Garol died sometime between 10 p.m., when her son retired and 3 a.m. Police said she had been subject to fainting spells and is believed to have fainted in the bathroom. Evidence indicated she had cleaned up blood stains in the bathroom before leaving.
An autopsy was to be performed today at Williams Mortuary. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
