Untimely Death of Geo. L. Richardson

Despite the heroic efforts of physicians who have been in constant attendance at his bedside for two weeks, George L. Richardson, for twenty (? word cut off) years County Surveyor, passed away last night at the Cottage Hospital.

Stricken about December 6th, the patient was taken immediately to the hospital. He suffered from convulsions caused by uraemic poisoning, the attack of which caused the death of Jack London a few weeks ago. Under the care of Dr. J. H. Kuser and his aids, Richardson’s condition was somewhat relieved, but at no time has there been any hope for his complete recovery.

During a great part of the time he was in a semi-conscious condition.

Richardson’s incumbency of the office of County Surveyor has covered a period of great improvement in the road system of the county. He had admirably filled his position and the standard he created fixes the task of his successor as a difficult one. For many years he had also occupied the office of San Rafael City Engineer.

Richardson was 51 years and four months of age. He leaves a large family to mourn with the rest of the community his untimely death. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Carlotta Richardson; two sons, Charles and George L. Jr.; and three daughters, Miss Phoebe Richardson, Mrs. John B. Parkinson and Mrs. Gerald J. Owens. He was the son of Mrs. T. H. Richardson and the brother of Charles M. Richardson, Mrs. Edward Fox and Mrs. E. W. Jackson.

He was a member of San Rafael __?__ No. 1108 B.P.O.E. and of Aerie No. 256 Fraternal Order of Eagles.

The funeral will be held tomorrow.
