Mary A. McDowell Dies At 86
Requiem Mass for Mary A. McDowell of San Rafael will be offered tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Santa Venetia with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.
Mrs. McDowell died Sunday at a local rest home after a six-week illness. She was 86.
A resident of San Rafael for 43 years, she had lived the last 15 years at 617 Gallerita Way.
She was born in Nova Scotia and moved to Montana with her family at the age of 11.
After her marriage in 1908 she lived in Nebraska and Idaho before moving to Alameda 50 years ago.
Her husband, Isaac P. McDowell, former newspaperman and San Rafael police officer, died 22 years ago.
She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine M. Morris of San Rafael, Elizabeth Rivers of Sacramento; a son, Air Force M/Sgt. John T. McDowell of Okinawa; a sister, Kathleen Laird of Butte, Mont.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was also the mother of the late Donald P. McDowell.
