LYNN KORAL

Rosalind Lynn Koral of Novato died unexpectedly Wednesday at her residence. She was 77.

She was born in Chicago and was graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

She lived most of her life in Chicago, moving to San Francisco in 1962. She moved to Novato in 1976.

She was a businesswoman most of her adult life, working as a jeweler and a professional fundraiser. Her live in Novato was devoted to her family and to volunteer service to the community.

Her most recent activities involved working with the Novato Human Needs Center, where she received the Volunteer of the Year award in 1978. In 1984, she also received a Congressional Recognition Award from Rep. Barbara Boxer for services to the Novato community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Schyberg of Novato and Dr. Adrienne J. Smith of Chicago; a son, Selwyn Smith of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Melvin Koral of Federal Way, Wash.; a sister, Ruth Zissman of Miami Beach, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

Private family services were held.

The family prefers memorial gifts to the Novato Human Needs Center or the Boy Scouts of America.
