JOHN EUSTACE

John B. Eustace, who had lived in Sausalito all his 80 years, died at home yesterday after a long illness.

Born in Sausalito, Eustace was a fourth generation Californian. He served in the Army during World War I with the Californians’ Grizzly, a combat unit organized in August 1917.

Eustace worked for 22 years on San Francisco ferry runs for the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.

He was a member of the Tiburon Baptist Church, American Legion Post 284, Mill Valley; the Masonic Lodge 356, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Native Sons of the Golden West.

He lived with his wife, Bertie Jane, at 309 Second Street.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Russell & Gooch Mortuary, Mill Valley, Burial will be in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno. Native Sons of the Golden West will hold services at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
