Body of Mrs. Mary Robertson Brought Home for Funeral

Mrs. Mary Taylor Robertson, daughter of the late Daniel Taylor, former county official, died at her home in San Mateo last Friday, after an illness of several weeks.

Surviving are four sisters and a brother – Mrs. C. S. Livingstone, Oakland; Ada F. Donovan, San Rafael; Mrs. Pierce J. Elliott, Sausalito; Emily T. Taylor, San Francisco, and Daniel T. Taylor, Redwood City.

The remains were brought to San Rafael for funeral services last Monday, followed by cremation.

Mrs. Robertson was a native of San Rafael. She left here about thirty years ago. Her father came to this county in 1849 and established a home in Larkspur. He came direct from Baltimore, with 26 others, and on April 29, 1916, at nearly 86 years of age, passed away, surviving all others of the ’49-er party.

Mr. Taylor, with nine others, including the Baechtel brothers, and Al (sic) Barney, father of Chas. S. Barney, built a lumber mill in Baltimore Canyon, Larkspur. The company after operating for some time, sold out to B. R. Buckelew. Taylor and a few of his business companions, went into the mining counties but met with little success, and Taylor returned to Marin, where he was elected county clerk, an office he held for sixteen years. The office at that time was combined with that of Auditor and Recorder. He married Elizabeth, the daughter of Capt.Simpton, and she passed away prior to 1916.
