Missing Child Found Dead With Broken Neck
With his neck broken from a fall in a small ravine a half mile from the house from which he disappeared Sunday night, little Albert Daniels, 3˝ year old son of Harry Daniels, was found this morning in the Fairfax hills by Mrs. Herbert McDonald.
The little body was removed to the Coroner’s office and an autopsy performed which revealed the fatal injury.
Daniels and his little son were visiting at the summer home of E. J. Rooker in Fairfax Sunday. The boy was missed about 6 o’clock, and a search was started immediately in which scores of residents and police officers engaged. It is learned that at one time the distracted father was within a few yards of the boy. Dr. Dufficy, who performed the autopsy, is of the opinion that the boy fell over the bank within a short time after he was missed and that death was instantaneous.
The report that an automobile containing a little boy, three women and a man, was seen hurrying through Fairfax shortly after t he child was missed, gave rise to the theory that the little fellow had been kidnapped. Efforts since then have been directed to other sections of the bay region. Police in three counties have searched diligently for traces of the child, while the father and grandmother, Mrs. Laura William, of 521 First avenue, San Francisco, have been distracted with grief over the possible fate of the little one.
The parents of the boy are living apart. Mrs. Daniels has been in Los Angeles for several months.
