JOSEPHINE R. POZZI

A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Regina McCarthy Pozzi, a longtime Valley Ford resident, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Assumption in Tomales. Mrs. Pozzi died Saturday at Petaluma Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 57.

Mrs. Pozzi was born and reared in Modesto. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing in San Francisco and worked as a nurse for more than 20 years.

She had worked in San Francisco and at the Sebastopol Convalescent Hospital as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Pozzi had lived 31 years in Valley Ford where her husband, Edward Pozzi, has a dairy ranch. She was active in many community organizations.

She was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Tomales, Tomales 4-H Club, St. Vincent’s Young Ladies Institute, Tomales High School Boosters, Tomales Parent-Teacher Association and Tomales Druids Circle.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by six daughters, Eileen Jensen of Tomales, Ters Santos and Barbara Gonnella, both of Occidental, Judy Marcia of Cazadero, Mary Pozzi and Lisa Marie Pozzi, both of Valley Ford; three sons, Joe Pozzi, Martin Pozzi and Paul Pozzi, all of Valley Ford; a sister, Mary Karinen of Petaluma; three brothers, Eugene McCarthy, John McCarthy and Pat McCarthy, all of Modesto; and three grandchildren.

Entombment will be at Tomales Catholic Cemetery.

The family prefers that contributions be made to the Regina Pozzi Memorial Scholarship Fund at Tomales High School.
