MARION EDITH THORNE

Marion Edith Thorne, a third-generation California and long-time Marin resident, died Monday at Marin General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Thorne, who was 51, was born in San Francisco and moved to Marin in 1940. She had lived in Novato and San Rafael.

She was an artist who did abstract paintings. She belonged to the Marin Society of Artists and the Marin Arts Council.

Mrs. Thorne is survived by her husband, Flint Thorne; two daughters, Terese and Susan Thorne; and a son, Flint Thorne, all of San Rafael.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Mount Tamalpais mortuary chapel in San Rafael. Inurnment will be at the Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.

The family has asked that memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
