Bright Young Lad Passes Away

Charles, the only and eleven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Speaker of Lower Santa Rosa avenue, died in a San Francisco hospital from spinal meningitis on Wednesday morning. The news of his death was a sudden shock to the community for the young lad was bright and a very manly boy. On Thursday afternoon it was a very touching scene when a group of his young schoolmates with tears in their eyes placed a floral piece on the casket of their departed playmate.

Funeral services will be held at the residence of Mr. Speaker this noon. The remains will be cremated.

The deceased was a native of Glen Ellen and spent most of his life here. A short time ago he had a mastoid operation and feeling unwell he was taken to San Francisco for treatment for spinal meningitis the early part of the week. His parents are deeply grieved over their sad loss.

A mention of the death was made in the Aug. 30th issue of the Marin Journal in which it was said that Mr. Speaker “is a well known N. W. P. engineer.”
