DeETTE LAKE PARKIN
A private memorial service was conducted Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Rafael for DeEtte Lake Parkin of Menlo Park, a former Marin resident.
Mrs. Parkin died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1987, at Sharon Heights Convalescent Home in Menlo Park after a short illness. She was 82.
She was born in South Dakota and left there in 1911 to head West. She lived for a time in Medford, Ore., and came to San Rafael in 1924. She lived in Marin for about five years before moving to Vallejo, where she lived many years. She moved to Menlo Park three years ago after her husband died.
Mrs. Parkin had retired after 15 years as a retail clerk for the National Dollar Store in Vallejo.
Survivors are a daughter, Beverly Benz of Menlo Park; a son, Richard Parkin of San Diego; two sisters, Josephine Lake of Mill Valley and Irene Quinn of San Anselmo; a brother, Francis Lake of San Rafael; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Inurnment was private at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
The family has asked that memorial donations be sent to Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, 1701 19th Ave., San Francisco.
