Stinson resident hurls self off cliff
Stinson Beach – A popular community resident apparently hurled himself off a steep cliff Monday, killing himself.
Benjamin Chollar, 44, a former Stinson Beach lifeguard who had worked at Marin County Juvenile Hall, was found dead Monday night by firefighters a half-mile south of Stinson Beach.
He had a brain tumor removed about three weeks ago and apparently was despondent over his health, according to the Marin County Coroner’s Office.
He had been admitted to Marin General Hospital the day before in a “very disoriented and agitated” state, the coroner reported.
