RUSSELL A. FLEMING
A funeral for Russell A. Fleming was to be held today at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato. Mr. Fleming, a retired Air Force major, died unexpectedly Saturday at his Novato home. He was 53.
Mr. Fleming was born in Inglewood. He served 20 years in the Air Force as a command pilot and saw duty in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was honored with both the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
Mr. Fleming retired in 1971 from Hamilton Air Force Base and had lived 16 years in Novato.
Since his military retirement, he worked as a market specialist with t he Equitable Life Insurance Co.
Mr. Fleming was a member of the Retired Officer’s Association and was a Chartered Life Underwriter.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Alicia I. Fleming of Novato; two sons, Russell A. Fleming Jr. of San Jose and Michael Joseph Fleming of Novato; a daughter, Tracey Irene Fleming of Novato; his mother, Alice Fleming of La Puente, Los Angeles County; a brother, Kenneth Fleming of Seattle; and a sister, Shirley Nichols of Glendale.
Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park in Novato.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Heart Fund.
