Ranch Hand Takes Life
James Allen, employed for years as a motorman in San Francisco, committed suicide last night on the Brown & Brandon ranch in Hicks Valley, where he was employed, by shooting himself in the head.
Allen had just returned from a trip to San Francisco to see his wife and children, who live at 1429 Page street. Since his return, according to Mr. Robert Brown, his employer, he had been obsessed with the idea that his life was in danger from an (words missing?) and that he had unknown enemies who had sworn to make way with him. Apparently rational early last night, he borrowed a revolver from Mr. Brown. This morning his body was found by Charles Oscar, a fellow employee, in the barn.
The remains were brought to San Francisco by Coroner Sawyer, and the widow in San Francisco notified.
