WILLIAM R. TOBIAS Sr.
A funeral at sea will be held for William Ray Tobias Sr., a longtime Marin resident.
Mr. Tobias died Friday at the Hillhaven Convalescent Center in Mill Valley after a lengthy illness. He was 85.
He had lived in San Rafael and Novato for many years.
Mr. Tobias worked for Santa Fe Railways and Matson Steamship Co., and in later life founded his own hotel representative firm in San Francisco, which is still in business.
He is survived by two sons, Rodney Edmund Tobias of Corvallis, Ore., and William Ray Tobias Jr. of San Bruno; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family prefers that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in San Rafael.
