Sudden Death Of Benj. Lichenstein (sic)

The community was shocked last Friday night to hear of the sudden death of Benjamin Lichenstein at his home on Locust avenue.

Although suffering slightly from a bad cold for several days prior, his family and friends were confident that his illness was no more than a slight indisposition. Friday morning, however, he was stricken with apoplexy, and Dr. Dufficy, who was called, pronounced his condition serious. He passed away at 6 o’clock that evening. He was 68 years of age.

For many years the deceased had been a prominent San Francisco business man. Ten or fifteen years ago he retired and decided to remain permanently in San Rafael. Since that time in a quiet and unostentatious way he had made his name loved by many persons in need. He was ready at all times to contribute to any worthy cause.

He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Frances Lichenstein and two children, Mrs. A. L. Gump and Milton Lichtenstein, of San Francisco. The funeral held in San Francisco was private.

[Note: the Marin County Death Index gives the name as Lichtenstein]
