Denied Re-enlistment Commits Suicide
Despondent because of is failure to pass the physical examination for re-enlistment in the army, John N. Mardak, aged 24 years, committed suicide last Thursday at Fort McDowell by hanging himself.
Mardak had served as a soldier in t he Philippines, but before the expiration of his enlistment he purchased his discharge. Out of work and without funds, he went to Angel Island the early part of last week for the purpose of again joining the army. The physicians found him physically unfit. The remains were taken charge of by Coroner Sawyer.
