CHRIS MITCHELL

Chris Mitchell, retired restaurateur and father of former Marin Auditor Michael Mitchell, died Wednesday at his home in Corte Madera after a lengthy illness. He was 90.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Methoni, Greece, and came to the United States in 1915. He had been in the restaurant business for more [than] 50 years in San Francisco, specializing in Greek cuisine. He last operated the Parkwood Restaurant.

He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.

Mr. Mitchell lived in San Francisco before moving to Corte Madera 15 years ago.

He shared honors last December when he attended his son’s retirement party.

His wife of 60 years, Isabel Mitchell, died in 1982.

In addition to his son, he is survived by a daughter, Becky Mitchell of Corte Madera; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

A private funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Daphne Funerals Marin in Corte Madera.
