LYDIA M. ARNDT
Lydia M. Arndt, 85, died Sunday at the Rafael Convalescent Hospital in San Rafael.
She was a native of Washington. Mrs. Arndt moved to Marin County in 1924 with her husband, the late Walter B. Arndt.
Her husband worked as a correctional officer at San Quentin State Prison and the family lived at San Quentin for about 30 years.
Mrs. Arndt worked in sales for many years at Albert’s and Macy’s department stores.
She was a member of the Eastern Star chapter in San Rafael, the San Anselmo American Legion Auxiliary, the Woodwardia Circle and the Retirees Club of San Rafael.
Her survivors include a daughter, Beverly Dahlquist of Ignacio; a sister, Lillian Smith of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Joseph Hansen of Portland, Ore., and Samuel Hansen of Shelton, Wash.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Rafael Convalescent Hospital, 234 N. San Pedro Rd., San Rafael.
