SPENCER N. SMILEY
Spencer N. “Pete” Smiley of Ross, a longtime Marin resident who was an executive at the Crocker National Bank in San Rafaela, died today at Marin General Hospital. He was 68.
Mr. Smiley came to Marin County from San Francisco as a boy. He began a 45-year career with Crocker Bank right after high school graduation and retired as vice president of the bank in 1982.
Mr. Smiley graduated from Stanford School of Business.
He was a member of the Merchants Exchange Club of San Francisco.
He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Smiley of Ross; a daughter, Joan Shattuck of San Rafael; a son, Peter Smiley of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Philip Smiley of Sonora and Richard Smiley of Florida; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Smiley will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anselm’s Church in San Anselmo.
The family prefers memorial contributions to St. Ignatius College Preparatory School, 2001 37th Ave., San Francisco.
